Customizing a Payable

How to adjust Broker Gross on an individual payable, set a custom split, and reset customizations.

By default, each payable is calculated from the broker’s commission percentage and split plan on the deal. When a payment needs to be allocated differently — a broker taking a larger share of one payment, or an agreed-upon one-off adjustment — the payable can be customized.

There are two places to do this: the Make Payment screen and the Set Split popup on the Deal Profile. Both apply only to unpaid payables.

Method 1 — Adjusting Broker Gross on the Make Payment Screen

  1. Go to Accounting > Payables and click Make Payment on the payable.
  2. In the Gross Commission Allocation section, edit the Broker Gross value for the relevant broker.
  3. The system recalculates the Amount Due in real time and checks whether the broker has crossed into a new split tier.
  4. Complete the payment details and save.

Broker Gross drives the recalculation — not the Amount field. The Payment Details section is used only to split a payable into multiple payments, not to change how much a broker is owed. Over- or under-paying a payable through the Amount field is not supported.

Validation: The system checks two things simultaneously — that the total Broker Gross per broker matches the Deal Profile, and that the sum of Broker Grosses per receivable matches the receivable’s Gross Commission.

Method 2 — Set Custom / Reset Split on the Deal Profile

Use this when you want to set the split level on a payable before it reaches the payment stage.

  1. Open the Deal Profile and click Set Split.
  2. Unpaid payables display Set Custom and Reset Split links.
  3. Click Set Custom to override the split level for that payable.
  4. Click Save. The changes are applied directly to the payable.

Reset Split returns the payable to the split calculated from the broker’s active split plan.

How Other Payables Are Affected

Customizing one payable does not change the deal’s total commission. The amount is reallocated, which means the remaining unpaid payables recalculate to keep the deal in balance against the receivable.

Paid payables are never recalculated. If a broker has already been paid on an earlier payment, that amount is fixed, and any reallocation is absorbed by the payables still outstanding.

Limitations

Limitation Detail
Paid payables cannot be customized Broker Gross cannot be changed on a payable once it has been paid. Delete the payment first, then customize.
Paid payables cannot be reset The Reset option is unavailable while a payment exists on the payable.
Reset before reallocating A payable that has already been customized must be reset before Broker Gross can be reallocated again. Attempting to reallocate a customized payable directly will not apply correctly.
Per-payment commission percentages Changing a broker’s commission percentage on a per-payment basis is not supported. Broker Gross can be adjusted per payable, but the underlying commission % applies across the whole deal. This is an open enhancement request.
Imported deals On deals imported into Dealius, the Reset option may not be available because the original accounting was not generated by the system. In this case the accounting must be regenerated.

Working with Imported Deals

If a payable on an imported deal cannot be reset or deleted, the accounting needs to be rebuilt:

  1. Export the existing payment data for reference.
  2. Have the accounting regenerated on the deal.
  3. Re-apply the payments against the regenerated payables.

Regenerating accounting requires Super Admin access — contact support@dealius.com for assistance.

Payable Summary Section

The Payable Summary on the Make Payment screen displays static accounting data for the whole deal. It does not update live as you edit Broker Gross — it refreshes only after the payable is saved. Broker Gross values are not shown for FFE and Expense payables, as they do not apply.
